We offer appointments with the following health professionals and associated staff:

  • Doctors
  • Practice Nurses
  • Healthcare Assistants
  • Physiotherapist
  • Mental Health Nurse
  • Pharmacists
  • Community Link Worker
  • Citizens Advice Bureau

Please see the 'Clinics' page for more details.

Right care right place

To protect us and the NHS, it’s important you know how to get the right care, in the right place.

After asking what you need help with, our reception team may signpost you to a local service which may be more appropriate for your needs. For example:

  • accident and emergency if you have a life or limb-threatening emergency
  • a minor injuries unit if you think you have broken a bone
  • your local pharmacy for advice about minor illnesses, treatments and medication
  • your local optician if you have an eye problem
  • the NHS Inform website for self-help guides on everyday illnesses

Your appointment

We offer patients the choice of whether to have their appointment:

  • face to face at the surgery
  • by phone

If you are feeling unwell, e.g. with pain, a rash or breathing issues, then we would expect to see you at the surgery. The receptionist will ask what you need help with and will suggest a face to face appointment in the majority of cases.

Cancelling or changing an appointment

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.

To cancel your appointment:

  • phone us on 0131 666 2121, Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm
  • reply CANCEL to your appointment reminder text message

If you need help with your appointment

  • if you have any other access or communication needs

  • you think you need A&E but its not life or limb threatening
  • you need support with mental health distress
  • you need urgent care and we, your pharmacy or your dental practice is closed

Phone 999 or go to A&E if:

You have:

  • a life or limb threatening emergency
  • signs of a heart attack or stroke
  • difficulty breathing
  • severe bleeding
  • severe injury
  • seizures
  • a severe allergic reaction
  • tried to end your life

Home visits

Whilst we encourage our patients to come to the surgery, where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate this is not always possible. In this respect, if you do need a home visit, you can help us by calling reception before midday.

You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed. Please bear this in mind and be prepared to provide suitable details to enable the doctor to schedule house calls.

You can also be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP.

Training

We are proud to be a training practice, and we provide further education for doctors in general practice at many different levels.

Video recording of some consultations may take place for this purpose, if you consent to it.
